Where We Sail

CHESAPEAKE BAY

Liberté’s berth is alongside the Chart House Restaurant in the Eastport section of Annapolis on Spa Creek, the heart of Annapolis’ busy harbor. After a very brief motor away from the dock, we’ll begin to hoist sail in the shadow of the Naval Academy. We can either sail up the protected waters of the Severn River, with riverside mansions and grand lawns gracing the shore, or out on to the Chesapeake Bay. Out there, we go north to the Bay Bridge or south to historic Thomas Point Lighthouse. Along the way we’ll pass many other boats of all sizes and shapes.

CAPE COD

Liberté’s berth on Cape Cod in Falmouth, Massachusetts, is alongside the Clam Shack looking over Vineyard Sound to Martha’s Vineyard . Departing the dock, we quickly make sail. Depending on the wind and tide, we may head west to Woods Hole; near Nobska Lighthouse are some wonderful old houses which can only be seen from the water. Beyond that are the Elizabeth Islands, the undeveloped emeralds of the New England coastline. If we are beckoned south, we’ll arrive in the vicinity of Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven on Martha’s Vineyard, home to some magnificent antique sailing ships and enormous summer cottages of the 1920’s. To the east are the bluffs of Falmouth Heights and the pure beaches and nature sanctuary of Waquoit Bay.
